Sensible RamblinRover: Hey, pedal car kits are quite cheap, and you can get one for your niece and paint it however you want.
RamblinRover’s internal Tim Taylor: Not just paint, right?
SRR: I don’t follow.
RRITT: With all the money saved it would be crazy not to wire lights and a working horn.
SRR: Oh.
RRITT: It needs to have a dashboard switch with an indicator
light. And the horn needs to be a full-size automotive low-tone. Also, we’re going to electroplate the grill and the bumpers.
RamblinRover’s wallet: I need an adult
RRITT: The rear lights will be round insets and the rest of the rear lights will be chromed with reflective red tape.
SRR: Well, I suppose that would be alright.
RRITT: And we’re doing the body in Metalcast purple over Metalcast basecoat

Did you see how I used a hole saw to cut through the original chrome “headlights” to install license plate lights that look like headlights with ‘40s/’50s visors on them?
Of course, the corresponding holes in the body didn’t cooperate because they’re on a seam line, and I should have used a hole saw, but eh, details.

Looking forward to seeing this done, and the work in progress.

It’s all wired up save making the little tray for the battery and filling that up - and the fact that the grounds
for the dash indicator light and the rear lamps depend on some of the components being bolted up. One of my brothers: “are you doing turn signals yet?” Me: “Later, ye mad fool!”

This is why Project Managers exist.

If I were independently wealthy( read: able to just do this shit instead of working) I totally would. Actually, I’ve messed around with powered wheelchair parts for things before, so if there were a stamped body big enough I’d be tempted. Maybe source a bumper car body...
Looks like these things are serious money.

I’m looking forward to seeing this progress.
All that’s missing is a lever so she can drop the back end and shoot sparks from the hidden titanium blocks.

I have a project manager for stuff here at work, but he can’t be relied on to restrain me at home.

They’re only sort of frenched. It’s about bringing the actual
light in line with the reflector section. But hey, if there hadn’t been existing stamping contours I’d have been sorely tempted for that and the headlights.

That there would so sweet to tool around the mall in. I could cause some heart attacks for sure.

For being able to pack it into smaller areas and to reduce weight, you’d probably leave the bumper off, but it’d be so dang handy, and for going around the mall it’d be best to have a bumper *and* an electrics pole not going up to anything, just there. Comedy.

There has to be a bumper, because there will be kids jumping into my path.
Agreed on the pole, but I’d like to find a way to have sparks going off the end so people have to wonder what it’s touching that they can’t see.

Needs turn signals as well....and while you’re at it, trafficators.

Signals wouldn't be hard to add, would probably do that with a 1/4" drill bit and LEDs. I'll leave that up to somebody in future, though.
